Nick’s Motto
It’s Nick’s first day of high school tomorrow. And since he’s too busy chanting, “Summer never ends, school never starts….” I don’t think he’s fully accepted it yet!!
Me: “Hey Nick, the bus just called, they will pick you up at 6:20. Um, that’s a.m. by the way…”
Nick: “Summer never ends, school never starts.”
Me: “Your new teacher Mrs. G. is great. Remember her from 1st grade?”
Nick: “Summer never ends, school never starts.”
Me: “You know your new school offers golf this fall, would you like that?”
Nick: “Summer never ends, school never starts.”
Me: “Did you like your new shirts I bought you for back to school?”
Nick: “Summer never ends, school never starts.”
Me: “Do you want to go to the mall today and go to the bookstore?”
Nick: “Oh Yeah!”
Me: “And maybe pop over and get you a new backpack!”
Nick: “Summer never ends, school never starts.”
Uh huh! Wish us all luck tomorrow morning, we might need it!!

You’re keeping your sense of humor, so you’ve got a great head start on the school year already. But I’ll wish you luck and send good thoughts your way for a not-too-bumpy start for everyone. I was going to say that I hope you have a smooth start, but as the mother of a teenager, I figure that’s a bit much to ask for.

Every time I mention school lately, Rocky acts like he can’t hear me and smiles cryptically at some thought he doesn’t share with me. Having read your post, I’m guessing that he is silently chanting Nick’s motto.

I think the only thing Nigel’s happy about with school starting is seeing the girl he likes since he hasn’t seen her all summer!
